Definition and Overview
FMC pump: usually refers to fluid handling equipment produced by FMC Technologies (a well-known oilfield equipment manufacturer), widely used in oil, gas and industrial fields.
Piston assembly: as the core moving part of the reciprocating pump, it changes the volume of the pump chamber through reciprocating motion to achieve fluid suction and discharge, suitable for high-pressure, high-viscosity or impurity-containing media transportation.
Structural Design:
Integrated/Split Piston Head: Select according to working conditions, split type is easy to maintain.
Sealing System: Multi-layer combination seal (such as polytetrafluoroethylene + elastomer) to ensure sealing under high pressure.
Connecting rod connection: linked with the crankshaft or cam mechanism to convert rotary motion into linear reciprocating motion.
Material Selection:
Piston Body: high-strength alloy steel (such as 4140 steel), stainless steel (316L) or ceramic coating, corrosion-resistant and wear-resistant.
Sealing Ring: carbon fiber composite material, polyurethane or Viton® rubber, suitable for high temperature or chemical corrosion environment.
Suction stroke: The piston moves backward, the volume of the pump chamber increases, negative pressure is formed, and the fluid enters through the suction valve.
Discharge stroke: The piston is pushed forward, the pressure increases, the discharge valve opens, and the fluid is discharged.
Pressure regulation: The flow rate is adjusted by the stroke length or the motor speed. Some models are equipped with variable frequency drive for precise control.
Oil and gas production: fracturing pumping high-pressure fluid (hydraulic fracturing fluid), downhole water injection and crude oil pipeline transportation.
Chemical process: metering and adding corrosive chemicals (such as acids and polymers).
Industrial cleaning: high-pressure water jet equipment, the pressure can reach more than 3000 bar.
Desalination: used for the high-pressure boosting link of reverse osmosis system.
High-pressure capacity: the design pressure can reach more than 10,000 psi, suitable for extreme working conditions.
High efficiency and wear resistance: surface hardening treatment (such as nitriding or tungsten carbide spraying) prolongs the service life by 30%-50%.
Modular design: quick replacement of piston components to reduce downtime.
