The basic characteristics of beam pumping unit are simple structure, easy to manufacture and easy to use. Especially, it can be used in oilfield for a long time and reliably.
Powered by the power machine, the high-speed rotation of the power unit is changed into the low-speed rotation of the crank of the pumping unit through the reducer, and the rotating motion is changed into the up and down reciprocating motion of the horsehead of the pumping unit by crank - connecting rod - traveling beam mechanism, and the deep well pump is driven by the suspension rope assembly.

According to different balance methods, beam pumping units can be divided into beam balance type, crank balance type, composite balance type and pneumatic balance type.
Beam pumping units can be divided into different pumping units according to different structural types.
Conventional beam pumping unit: the horsehead and crank connecting rod mechanism are located in front of and behind the support respectively, and the balance angle is zero. Front mounted beam pumping unit: the horsehead and crank connecting rod mechanism are located in front of the support.
Heterogeneous beam pumping unit: the horsehead and crank connecting rod mechanism are located in front of and behind the support respectively, and the balance angle is not zero.
Double donkey head beam pumping unit: the horsehead and crank connecting rod mechanism of hanging polished rod are located in front of and behind the support respectively. In the process of one stroke, the length of back arm and connecting rod are not constant.
